Ben Murray Feedback from tutor richard Perkins 22/3/2012 Presentation & Organization of Output Packet Editing, shape, size A nice concise and effective PR Ben. Beautiful photo, were you up the top of that bamboo?! I think this format works well for you and is easily navigable. Do check for spelling/ grammar/ repetition as I think there are some minor points that could be cleaned up here… Mix of media, genres and styles Nice slide shows, photos mindmaps and concise text, effective and nicely put together. Might be nice to branch into little videos, eg, capturing feedback from students, etc… Management of Output Packet Creation PR seem rounded and balanced, nice review mindmap and resource review. Are there resources you can link in for the benefit of others with less growing experience/ knowledge of sub tropics? Design Skills Articulation of Approach Nice PR layout, simple, clean and effective. I think it would be worth considering your approach in the analyze/ assess section. You’ve noted what you are doing/ have done, but this is more the design response. Use this section to make note of observations/ data that you can respond to in the design section. Eg, soil samples, knowledge/ research on tropical soils, obeservations of silting/ run off, extremes in seasons, etc. Previous peoples experience, etc… Then in your design section you can show how you have responded and designed in solutions/ strategies, etc. Project To continue previous point, I think the design section has very nice graphics but should include some of the actions included in analyze. Design is how you are responding to analysis and observation. Might be nice to include formulas/ recipes for applications you use, why, photos, links for others, etc… Critical Evaluation & Thinking Some external references would be good… “tropical soils notoriously poor” Says who? What research have you done, where can others find out? How does contour work, can you draw diagrams, etc… This is all part of your analyze/ observe sections and will really empower the effectiveness of this PR Action learning skills (for Project and Output) Concrete Experience (Awareness in action) Yes, a beautiful and functional design and implementation. Very nice- great slideshow. Any info on companion plantings, etc? Reflective Observation (Appraisal of action outcomes) Nice mindmap, some feedback from students would be very nice, either video, written forms after the courses, etc.. Active Experimentation (Use of piloting and trials) I think you’ve been dealing with this with your workshops. I would recommend considering research and data collection as something to build into future PRs, and a little back tracking on this one to really bring out and highlight why you’ve taken the actions you have… Outcomes Benefits to Field (Project) This is obviously of great benefit to Panya so long as it is kept maintained and nurtured, as you know! A beautiful and productive looking space. Growth of Skillflexes (Professional) Documenting seems to be going well for you, as well as improving digital fluency, very nice work. Contributes to knowledge commons Again, I think you could be collecting and disseminating useful resources/ videos/ knowledge you come across to benefit others… Nice work Ben, I like this concise and clear framework. Id recommend amending some grammar and fleshing out the sections noted to really highlight your work and achievements. Great stuff! |

Panya contour gardens project feed back 12/3/2012 by Matt Ralston Presentation & Organization of Output Packet A very clear goals articulation with supporting photo’s and links to the analyse that work well; overall presentation is very good leading the viewer effortlessly through the design. The content looks good I particularly like the side show of the implementation process. Management of Output Packet Creation Design Skills The design worked well for a larger project you’re planning must have been extensive which is reflected in the 20 hour input for thinking and strategy. The use of local materials and consideration of local climate will reap rewards in the life time of the project. I liked the use of a mind map for the evaluation however it needs to be enlargeable for ease of reading. Action learning skills Great design the project was a great opportunity and you have made the most of it. The design has a natural flow using contours, which you have sculpted, into beautiful space. The material choice blends into the landscape demonstrating your understanding of natural forms. Leading a group will also be useful in the future. Outcomes What a good design and legacy the garden should last for a very long time with minimum input. This is a good design for your professional portfolio well done and a joy to read. |
